To some this is probably no surprise, but this in my second blog. If you know me personally or from The Homebody Company, you may be wondering why I felt the need to start a second blog instead of just write everything in one. Why would I take on the responsibility of having a whole other platform to manage including all of the social media and emails that came along with it?
I want to write about E V E R Y T H I N G. As much as I try very hard to rest and take a break, it’s not usually what my mind agrees with. And instead of compiling that all into one place with a range of content, I wanted somewhere where I could talk about life things and somewhere I could keep going with my sewing and crafts.

Mixing Content
A little while back when I was starting to think more seriously about expanding my writing categories and talking about more on my blog I did a poll on The Homebody Company instagram. I wanted to get a feel for what my followers there did and did not want to see in an effort to keep the content and community I had already built there engaged and excited for what I had to show them. While MANY of my wonderful followers said yes, enough voted that they were just there for what the page had started as. And that was 1000000% okay too. That’s why I asked and it was a response I had expected to see! I was having a hard time thinking of how to combine the two anyways because even though they were both me, they felt like different brands (more on that later). So now, for all of your crafty/quilty content, you will be able to easily access it on The Homebody Company blog. And for all of your life updates, tips and maybe one day some home DIY decor, you will find it here at Raye of Sunshine!
I LOVE Branding
Here’s the true marketer coming out in me – I LOVE branding. I LOVE creating content. And I just love creating something from nothing and meeting others that want to do that same.
When I was considering what writing here would look like it was also a bit different than the content and personality you will see through The Homebody Company. Of course, they are both just me writing and creating, but they both embody something a little different. In effort to fully embrace what both of them are, creating a whole new brand for Raye of Sunshine was something I was pretty excited for! Watching it evolve into something different from The Homebody Company is going to be an adventure I can’t wait to take on.

Space to Be Myself
While I can definitely be myself over at The Homebody Company (yay for being my own boss!), there is still a part of me that wants to present that as a business. I try my hardest to keep it just a bit professional and provide quality patterns, products and crafty content to my followers. At Raye of Sunshine, you are going to find me being myself every. single. day. Which also means I may just not post for a while or you could hear from me every day of the week.
All this to be said, I do still have a full time job and don’t quite know what all this space will hold. I’m currently seeing it as a free space to come and write when inspiration strikes and to also step back from when my plate feels full.
I’m so glad you are here. Here’s to something new + fun!
